The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approves the utilization of real flight simulator software programs as a portion of each pilots training curriculum. Simulators might be utilized whether or not you are earning your pilots license, you need to sustain currency, you have to meet proficiency standards, or whether you are looking for to get extra advanced airline flight ratings.

Not all flight simulators are approved but so that you can be accepted for utilization through the FAA, they would need to satisfy a set of established specifications and criteria. Approval for use by the FAA generally signifies how the time you devote on the emulator can be logged as credit toward what ever score or proficiency examine you are searching for to pass.

Keep in mind, yet, that just simply because a particular airline simulation plan is not officially endorsed through the FAA, it doesn't necessarily mean that that special simulation cannot be utilized for training at all. By all means, you could and you are in reality encouraged, to utilize any real flight simulator that you may get your hands on. The only caveat is that the time you invest practicing with that particular emulator won't officially count toward your needed hours of training.

Take the Instrument Rating, for instance. You are allowed to count up to a limit of 15 hrs of dual instruction on an authorized simulator toward your minimum teaching specifications. But that does not preclude the truth that you might just at the same time invest an additional 30 or 50 several hours training on any other home-computer dependent simulation on your personal time.

By all means, the further time you devote to honing your abilities, the even more proficient you'll grow to be like a pilot. The FAA does not bemoan this truth. About the contrary, you're encouraged to do so.

I worked for a company will call XYZ that actually created flight simulators for DoD. The units were set up with DoD satellite GPS simulators that allowed DoD personnel to practice flights prior to embarking on them. Are the commercial units real time with GPS simulators that re-enact actual real time situations?
