Cessna Simulator - Why Use One?

What are some of the unique qualities of a Cessna 172 simulator? Essentially, what it it does is mock the complete instrument panel of an actual Cessna 172 aircraft, down to every minute detail.

The instrument panel on board your simulator was engineered to react to movements from the keyboard or mouse, from a joystick, or even a set of USB-enabled aircraft yoke and rudder pedals.

A Cessna 172 simulator basically empowers you to pilot your aircraft in a "virtual reality" universe, in which you can navigate in all three spatial dimensions.

There are many differing vantage points through which you can view the environment in a simulator: You can look at the outside world from inside the cockpit, in first person mode, as if you are actually sitting inside the aircraft. Or you can watch the aircraft from outside, in third-person too.

Cessna 172 simulator programs constitute a virtual "universe". Inside this universe, you will find real landmarks and real airports, based on actual map information.

These simulation programs are engineered to react to environmental conditions such as weather which include wind, clouds, and temperature. The simulated aircraft is engineered to even be sensitive to weight and balance variations. These factors together mimic the impact that all of these conditions would have had on your aircraft in real life. So it is designed to be as realistic as the technology will allow it.

Basically everything that can be manipulated in an actual Cessna aircraft can be controlled in a Cessna 172 simulator: Control movements, navigation equipment, communications equipment, lighting, fuel management, engine management, and electrical systems.

A Cessna 172 simulator is also realistic in terms of geographic distances and the times required to fly them. If a flight from Chicago to New York were to take 6 hours in the real world, then it will take 6 hours in the flight simulator world. As a matter of fact, simulators are an excellent way to practice a "dry run" of an actual upcoming flight that you are planning to undertake soon.

Weather is also true to life in a flight simulator. As a matter of fact, Cessna 172 simulator programs present the ideal means to practice and become an expert at instrument flying (which is the act of flying "blind" through the clouds).

Essentially, a Cessna 172 simulator is an efficient educational tool, enabling you to learn how to pilot its real world counterpart.
